A wild camel attacked its owner and beheaded him.

Sohan Ram Naik was desperately trying to recapture his camel, which had escaped from his pen, when the animal pounced on him.

The camel lifted its owner by the scruff of the neck and slammed him to the ground before "chewing his head off," The Times of India reported. The horrific incident took place in February last year near Bikaner village in Rajasthan, India.

Officials said the camel broke free from where it was tied and became agitated when it saw another camel passing by.

After the beheading, Nayak's family members and the local people of the village plan to take revenge on the camel. The mob overpowered him before allegedly tying him to a tree and beating him with sticks.

A horrifying video of an animal being beaten has gone viral on social media. The camel died as a result of the beating.

Authorities in Rajasthan made camels one of their official animals in 2014 as part of a broader effort to protect them as their numbers decline. A camel bill was also introduced in 2015, which would have made killing camels punishable by up to five years in prison.

Also last year, a camel gave fast food workers an unforgettable night when it approached the drive-thru window for chips. Hilarious pictures show dromedary camel Fergie being led by her handler Brandon Nobles through an In-N-Out burger drive in Las Vegas, US.

Brandon rescued the 15-year-old mammal from a Colorado home and has since paraded it around various fast food restaurants where countless heads have turned. And during visits to Wendy's and Einstein Bros. Bagels, Fergie apparently developed a taste for chips.
