Taylor Swift opens up about being 'deluded' while dating ex Joe Alvin

Taylor Swift dated Joe Alwyn for almost six years before their split in early 2023.

Taylor Swift appeared to hint at the reasons for her breakup with ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn as she performed at the second concert of her Eras tour in Melbourne on Saturday.

During the folklore section of her show, Swift revealed how she really felt when she was writing the 2020 album, which she wrote in quarantine with Alvin in London during the pandemic.

[I was] imagining that, instead of being a lonely millennial woman covered in cat hair, drinking her weight in white wine, I was a ghostly Victorian lady wandering the woods with a candle, and I only wrote on parchment. A feather quilt,” she said in a clip shared by fans of the show.

She continued, "It was in my mind, what I thought I looked like, writing folklore. … So that's all that matters: the illusion."

Swift and Alvin were together for almost six years when they started dating in 2017 and broke up in early 2023.

The Lavender Hayes singer also reflected on her past relationships in her 2023 Person of the Year profile published in Time magazine in December.

Life is short. Have an adventure. I locked myself away in my house for years - I'll never get that time back," she said. "I'm more trusting now than I was six years ago."

The Grammy-winning musician has since moved on with NFL athlete Travis Kelce.
