Prince William's coronation plan continues 'in secret' amid King Charles' cancer

Prince William and Kate Middleton believed they had many years ahead of them before they expected to take the throne.

However, the latest string of health crises within the royal family put unprecedented pressure on the two to prepare themselves to rule Britain ahead of schedule.

Speaking to InTouch, an insider shed light on the situation behind palace gates after King Charles was diagnosed with "a form of cancer" earlier this month.

While the 75-year-old monarch will inevitably be reluctant to abdicate the crown to his eldest son in his lifetime, his current health doesn't give him much of a choice.

“Charles can't help but consider abdication instead for the sake of the monarchy,” the insider claimed, “which means William and Kate will be crowned King and Queen much sooner than anyone expected. "

As for the mother-of-three, who is currently recovering after undergoing stomach surgery last month, she is understood to be "ready to take the plunge" despite the timing being "not ideal".

The insider also gave an insight into the 'criminal' plans by palace officials for William's upcoming coronation, which will fulfill his long-held desire to reduce the spectacle.

"William and Kate don't want all the traditional pomp and circumstance that makes them feel out of touch, so that will be significantly scaled back," he told the outlet. “They will probably have a religious ceremony and a small reception, hopefully for less than $15 million.
